Carnegie Community Centre
(Hastings and Main Street)
Student Leaders met Friday,
February 10th and Sunday, February 17th at the school to make Valentine cards
and bake cookies for the Carnegie Community Centre. Nine committed leaders
enjoyed hot chocolate, donuts and friendship as they worked together to prepare
treats for people in the Downtown Eastside. Gina, Katie J, Chelsey, and Ben
along with Jean McTavish, our area counsellor met with Director Ethel Whitty for
a tour of the building built in 1902 and passed out cookies and Valentines to
grateful visitors. They also had a chance to meet different residents and learn
about the important work that goes on at the Carnegie Centre. Katie said,
"I was surprised by how happy people were to receive a card and
cookie."
